1960’s Nostalgia

I have heard it said- “Once you have lived through the 60’s nothing is ever the same.”
It sounds appropriate for this section on 60’s Nostalgia. Below is a collection of rate and vintage 1960’s videos/films which taken together present a fair picture of what life was life in the 1960’s.
This first section deals with the Atom Bomb paranoia which I have written about in the “The Camp Clovis Chronicles 1969” All the videos listed below have fallen into public domain and can be found at www.archive.org

“Duck and Cover” was the film that was shown to all young school children in public schools from the late 1950’s on into the late 1960’s. Below the cartoon you will find the original movie , “Duck and Cover.” Then below that are a series of more vintage 60’s videos.

Bert The Turtle Lectures

Below is the original version of “Duck and Cover’ in all it’s glory.

Below is my revised version of “Duck and Cover” with more appropriate graphics

This next series video is about the youth in the the sixties.

This video called “Coffee House 1969” gives a brief picture of what the High School kids were like and what they talked about. The video explains how a church group set up a coffee house in their building so young kids could have a place to go and talk.

On July 24, 1969 Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the moon. This is a short video
produced by NASA to describe the event.

No more having to use your slide ruler or your Abacus – this new sharp calculator
can do it all and it fits in your pocket. An amazing advancement in the 60’s.

Below is a news clip which shows thousands of protesters against the Vietnam War.

This next video below was a government produced film which talks about the vast diversity of our country. Whatever your race, occupation or religion you’re all part of America. No one questions
you allegiance to America no mater who you are –unless of course you have long hair….

Motorola produced a series of teleplays in the mid- sixties. This video below
is particularly interesting. It tells the story of an average American family
dealing with an Atomic attack and the aftermath.
But no need to worry-it will all work out okay.

“Air Power” is a Defense Department produced video about Vietnam.
After viewing it you will be confused as to how we ever lost this war.

The “Atom Bomb” is a very good documentary about the dropping of the first atom bomb.

How could any collection of 60’s vintage videos be complete without an episode
of “Ozzie and Harriet”?
